International Womens Day

Col. Dame Kelly Holmes held a day of workshops and workouts to mark International Women’s Day on 8th March at The 1809 Hub.

The all-day extravaganza featured events for women of all ages, from teenagers to pensioners, and ended with a gin and wine bar in the evening.

The day kicked off with a business networking breakfast with Bev James, a bestselling author, renowned mentor and speaker and the CEO of The Coaching Academy. Bev works with with a select number of highly motivated people mentoring, coaching and managing them. Bev James Management represents Col. Dame Kelly Holmes, Joe Wicks aka The Body Coach, Henry and Ian aka Bosh!

Kris Robertson, Director of The Coaching Academy will also talk about Goal Settings for success.

This was followed up with 3 back to back Rebound sessions. Rebound is an effective and fun low impact workout performed on a professional mini trampoline. Rebound workouts are an invigorating total body workout which burns 100s of calories, changes body shape, tones and tightens muscles and skin, stimulates lymphatic drainage and strengthens the core, bones and joints.

Dr. Marilyn Glenville PhD, the UK’s leading nutritionist specialising in women’s health then joined us. Dr Marilyn speaks around the world on various women’s health subjects. This session was about how to increase your energy, eliminate mood swings, get rid of cravings, improve your memory, reduce stress, anxiety, tension and irritability and use your diet to balance female hormones.

Kelly herself then put guests through their paces in a one off core and stability session for all abilities which was followed by a pilates masterclass with master trainer Sandrine.

From 3-4pm, there was a free over-60s get together with tea and cake and after school from 4.30pm, there was a variety of sessions for young women, including a fitness and fun session, self defence and mindfulness session and a make-up session lead by Emilie Walkden, a certified MAC artist who runs an academy in Uckfield.

Emilie said: “I was excited to take part in the International Women’s Day event as I like to help and educate teenagers with their make-up”.

Throughout the day local beauty salon Tipz N Toez offered a nail bar, mini facials, eyebrow shaping and Indian head massage.

The day was full on with back to back sessions from 7am all the way through to 11pm but what a great day it was! Missed out? Watch out for International Women’s Day 2020.
